Mr Paul Rebgetz

Dr Paul Rebgetz is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in reconstructive surgery of the lower limb. Dr Rebgetz is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has Specialist registration with AHPRA.

Dr Rebgetz will be commencing in private practice in January 2024, joining Perth Hip & Knee. He has a public appointment at Royal Perth Hospital. Dr Rebgetz is a locum with the WA Country Health Service, currently visiting Geraldton.

Educated in Queensland, Dr Rebgetz received his Medical Degree from Griffith University, Gold Coast, in 2009. Dr Rebgetz completed his Orthopaedic training in Western Australia, and was admitted into the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in July 2021.

Dr Rebgetz went on to complete three fellowships to subspecialize. Specifically, he spent 6-months with Dr Price Gallie at Gold Coast University Hospital, with a focus on sports & soft tissue knee, hip and knee arthroplasty, robotics and lower limb trauma.

Dr Rebgetz spent a further 6-months completing a robotic hip and knee arthroplasty + revision arthroplasty fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane, under the tutelage of Professor Ross Crawford.

Dr Rebgetz embarked on an overseas fellowship at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland working with a team of surgeons. Specifically, Mr Paul Gaston and Mr Phil Simpson focusing on complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Foot and ankle Fellowship experience was gained working with Mr John McKinley, who specializes in total ankle replacement, ankle arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery techniques for osteotomies.

Prior to Orthopaedics, Paul worked as a physiotherapist, obtaining his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland in 2002. In that time, Dr Rebgetz worked across various sporting codes developing an intricate knowledge of injury rehabilitation. Dr Rebgetz takes great enjoyment in seeing his patients return to the activities they love the most.

  • Fellowship in Joint Arthroplasty, Sports & Soft tissue knee – Gold Coast University Hospital.

  • Fellowship in Joint Arthroplasty – The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).

Personal Interests

Dr Rebgetz is interested in most sports, having played Rugby league and Union until the bruises started to impact on his career. Paul is a keen golfer, but admits his handicap needs some work. He is passionate about Rugby League and would love to see a NRL team in Perth. Dr Rebgetz is looking forward to combining his training in Western Australia along with fellowship skills to help provide Orthopaedic care to Perth and the surrounding communities.
